If you do the research, the pondering, and the deciding, you own the result: good or bad. If good, you earn the confidence, the esteem that comes with it. If bad or wrong, you own that too, and you learn and grow from the experience, unlikely to make the same error again. If someone else has decided for you, right or wrong, you have no ownership, and the best you can do is thank them or blame them, neither of which makes you better or stronger. Put the time and energy in, and take the risk. Because there really is no risk. DUI or not? Attorney or not? This attorney or that? Drive or cab? Take the test or refuse? Go to work or school or sleep in?
