Many DUI defendants that walk through my door tell a story of a special night out on the town or in a friend’s home, with family or friends, that resulted in them drinking more than they normally drink even in their own home. Why is this important to you? Because you can learn from their mistakes. Drinking more than usual, away from home because of a special occasion, opens one up to more impairment and, more importantly, the now more dangerous drive home, which could include an accident, a meeting with a police officer, and a trip to jail or the hospital. If it’s that “special”, set that alarm in your head that you’re going to need a ride. Line it up and follow through with it so you don’t endanger yourself or others.
